In 2023, Dr Doumit had the privilege to teach his deep place facelift at the Korean Congress of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Doumit performs between 100 to 150 deep plane facelifts per year.  Dr. Doumit’s facelifts are designed to produce a natural-appearing result without the tell-tale signs that patients have undergone any type of surgical procedure. Dr. Doumit’s facelift is a highly personalized procedure. It is designed for each patient according to his or her aging process, and anatomy while keeping in mind the shortest recovery time possible, and a result that is long lasting.

Before and After Photos

Facial aging involves skin texture changes, descent or thinning of facial fat, and loss of facial bone volume. Dr. Doumit was one of the first surgeons to demonstrate facial bone loss with aging. All those changes will lead to sagging skin and a change in the form of the face. The main goal of the face-lift is to restore the facial shape to a contour that was exhibited during youth.

Procedure

TRADITIONAL FACELIFT (RHYTIDECTOMY) With Dr. Doumit’s technique, facelift incisions are hidden. They begin in the temporal area above the ear into the hair, follow the contour of the ear, and then behind the ear into the hairline. These incisions permit exposure of the deeper facial soft tissues. Descended facial fat will be repositioned to the position of the youth (Dr Doumit uses the DEEP SMAS FLAP technique). When some individuals have loss of fat in their face, Dr Doumit will add fat, which is taken from another part of the body. Neck improvements are obtained through a small incision under the chin (Occasionally)  by suturing/tightening the sagging muscle of the neck (corset platysmaplasty). Some excess fat from the neck is occasionally removed. Those techniques allow accurate correction of the laxity noted in the aging neck. They provide a sculptured jawline and a long-lasting result.

SHORT SCAR FACELIFT (MINI LIFT) Short scar facelift is useful for some patients who have minimal skin sagging of the neck. The incision will follow the contour of the ear anteriorly and then curve around the earlobe and stop. Through this incision, the deep tissue of the mid-face, cheek, and jaw will be repositioned to the position of youth.

Recovery

Bruising, swelling, and recovery time vary from patient to patient. General health, medications, as well as the type of procedure required to deliver the desired results will influence the recovery time. Sutures are removed between seven and ten days postoperatively. Patients can apply makeup when their sutures are removed. In general, most patients are over most of their bruising / swelling 10 to 14 days after surgery. Many patients return to social activities, and/or work, 2 weeks after surgery, and everyone returns to exercise 14 days post-op.

WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT? Most of our patients can return to work two weeks postoperatively, although the healing period can vary from patient to patient. Most patients may return to their exercise routine beginning 2 weeks postoperatively How long a facelift will last? On average 10 years. However, once a patient has a facelift, they will look younger than nature planned for the remainder of their life Patients frequently ask at what age should I have a facelift? A patient, regardless of age, should not have a facelift until they have seen changes in the face, that are a result of the aging process and that they wish to have corrected.

IS A FACELIFT SAFE? All surgical procedures carry some risk. Possible risks of face lift procedures include bleeding, unfavorable scarring, infection, poor wound healing with skin loss, facial nerve, facial asymmetry, numbness, fluid accumulation, pain, skin contour irregularities, skin discoloration, and swelling. Occasionally, sutures may spontaneously surface through the skin, become visible, or produce irritation that requires removal.

Unsatisfactory results are rare but possible. They include asymmetry, unsatisfactory surgical scar location, and unacceptable visible deformities at the ends of the incisions. There is a possibility of revisional surgery.
