Dr. Doumit may perform this procedure to shorten the philtrum, the small strip of skin between the nose and upper lip, or to display more of the red flesh of your upper lip, known as the vermilion. Procedure

Dr. Doumit performs a variety of different lip lift variations to account for different anatomy and patient goals. He performs this procedure using local anesthesia, and it typically takes him less than one hour to complete. Dr. Doumit can perform either a central lip lift or a corner lip lift to enhance the natural appearance of your lips.

Central Lip Lift

Dr. Doumit employs the central lip lift technique to shorten the philtrum and create a shorter, more youthful-looking upper lip.

He will first place a subtle incision directly under the nose, similar to the shape of a bullhorn. ⁽²⁾ He will excise any excess lip skin without touching any of your underlying muscles. Once each of these corrections is complete, he will carefully close the incision.

Corner Lip Lift

Dr. Doumit may perform a corner lip lift on its own or combine this technique with a central lip lift to fully revitalize the appearance and shape of your lips.

When performing a corner lip lift, Dr. Doumit will begin by placing small incisions on the sides of the mouth, right where the junction of skin and the red part of your lip (vermillion) meets. He will then lift the corners of the mouth to place them in a more rejuvenated position.

Recovery

After a lip lift, you may experience some bruising and swelling. Bruising typically resolves within a week, and swelling may persist for several days, but both improve with rest and cold compresses.

Here, Dr. Doumit will remove your sutures, monitor your recovery progress, and ensure your results align with your expectations.
