Breast Lift & Augmentation
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Montreal, Quebec
Breast lift combined with breast augmentation (also known as augmentation mastopexy) is the most effective procedure to correct droopy breasts in women who have also lost breast volume as a result of childbearing, weight loss, or age.
In some patients with minor breast droop, a breast implant only can inflate and lift the breast adequately. However, the majority of women with important breast ptosis and small breast volume need a combined breast lift and augmentation to achieve the best possible results. A breast implant is used to increase the volume and cleavage of the breasts. While, a breast lift is used to reshape the breast, elevate the areolas, and remove extra skin.

Augmentation Types
The breast lift – augmentation techniques are identical to those used for breast lift alone. There are three options: areolar, vertical, and inverted T breast lifts – augmentation.
DONUT MASTOPEXY AUGMENTATION
Circumareolar breast lift and breast augmentation are reserved for women with minor breast droop who desire additional breast fullness. The donut breast lift is used to re-position the areola and reduce the size of the areola when necessary. A circumferential incision is performed around the areola. The pectoralis major muscle is dissected and the breast implant is then placed through the incision. The outer layer of excess skin around the areola is removed and the areola is slid higher into the ideal position. The skin around the areola is then closed.
VERTICAL MASTOPEXY WITH BREAST AUGMENTATION
Vertical mastopexy with breast augmentation is reserved for women with moderate breast ptosis who desire larger breasts. A central vertical ellipse-type incision is made around the areola. The pectoralis major muscle is undermined and the breast implant is then placed through the incision. The breast tissue is sutured together to shape the breast. The areola is then slid into a higher position and the skin is closed. The scar is like a lollipop (circumferentially around the areola and down the center of the breast to the level of the inframammary fold).
INVERTED “T” BREAST LIFT(MASTOPEXY) AND BREAST AUGMENTATION TECHNIQUE
Inverted T Breast Lift (Mastopexy) and breast augmentation are reserved for patients with severe breast ptosis and excess skin. This is the most advanced mastopexy and augmentation technique. The skin is incised. The muscle is then dissected and the breast implant is placed beneath the muscle. The deep layer of breast tissue is sutured together to shape the breast. The areola is moved to a higher position. Excess skin is then removed and the skin is closed around the areola, down the center of the breast, and across the breastfold. The scar is like an inverted “T” (Anchor).
Recovery
In the first few weeks after breast lift and augmentation, the breast is swollen and bruised. Occasionally, the skin around the areola is puckered. However, this has improved over several weeks. In certain patients, the breast implants are usually high on the chest in the first two to three weeks causing some upper breast fullness. The implants settle and the breasts take on a nice appearance over a few weeks
Results
The results from breast lift and augmentation are immediately visible. However, breast shape and position continue to settle over the next few months. Scar lines are permanent. However, they will slowly fade over time. The results of surgery last a long time. However, the breasts continue to change secondary to age and gravity. Maintaining a stable weight helps maintain the results
Safety
Puckering around the areola can persist and complete smoothing of the puckered skin in some patients does not occur over time. Postoperative scarring can be unfavorable in some patients. The areola can also enlarge over time. Other complications include infection, capsular contracture, bleeding, breast asymmetries, wound healing problems, and loss of sensation in the nipples. Despite the possible side effects, this is a common procedure for Dr. Doumit. We generally achieve a great outcome.
Cost
The cost of Breast lift with augmentation varies according to the complexity of the surgery that needs to be performed and the type of breast implants (silicone vs. saline). It is usually between $11,000 and $12,900.
