Labiaplasty Dr. Gaby Doumit

Labiaplasty, also known as a labia minora reduction, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that reduces the size and length of the labia, or the folds of skin around the vaginal opening. Labiaplasty can involve trimming excess tissue, suturing skin folds, and more to accomplish the goal of reducing the labia minora. Those seeking a labiaplasty often do so for many reasons, but most commonly to increase their confidence in life and in intimacy. Additionally, overly large labia can cause discomfort for many women, (1) and possibly embarrassment when wearing certain clothing styles.

Dr. Gaby Doumit understands that each patient and their needs are unique. If you are considering a labiaplasty to enhance your confidence and reduce the reach of your labia, then please schedule a consultation with Dr. Doumit. Our patients are treated with personalized care to plan safe, successful procedures that give them the ideal benefits they want to see.

About Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is one of the main procedures in the growing field of cosmetic gynecology, which seeks to enhance the appearance and functionality of female genitalia to improve patients’ lives and comfort. Many women may feel that their labia minora are too large or extend too far. (2) This can occur naturally or as a result of aging, childbirth, hormonal changes, and more.

The presence of over-extensive labia can be a source of embarrassment for many women, and they can cause discomfort or even pain in intimate situations, while wearing certain clothes, during athletic activities, and more. (2)

Reducing the size of the labia not only addresses this pain and discomfort, but also allows patients to feel more confident in the appearance of their vaginal area. As labiaplasty has grown in popularity, the techniques and methods employed in the procedure have also evolved. Labiaplasty has a high rate of patient satisfaction in medicine, and Dr. Doumit’s patients regularly see long-lasting results that they are happy with.

Benefits

Receiving a labiaplasty procedure can offer many benefits in one’s life, including:

  • Enhanced comfort: Patients seeking a labiaplasty normally report discomfort caused by an overly extended labia, which a labiaplasty can help reduce.
  • Improved aesthetics: Reshaping and reducing the size of the labia can improve the symmetry and enhance the overall appearance of your genitals.
  • Better self-esteem: Being satisfied with your genital appearance can improve your overall confidence, especially in intimate situations and when wearing close-fitting clothing or bathing suits.
  • Improvement in sexual function: Many women seeking a labiaplasty also report that their labia cause discomfort during intimacy, which this procedure can help address.

Candidates

Candidacy for a labiaplasty depends on the appearance of your genital structure and the size of your labia. Some women may be able to achieve their ideal appearance with a fat transfer to the labia majora (the skin that surrounds the labia minora). If you experience discomfort due to the size of your labia or are not happy with its appearance, then you might benefit from a labiaplasty. Patients who recover without complications and are satisfied with their procedures are those who are in generally good health, do not smoke or are willing to stop for a period, have specific issues they want to address, and are willing to collaborate with Dr. Doumit and his team to create optimal results.

Personal Consultation

The first step in your labiaplasty procedure is meeting with Dr. Doumit and discussing your motivations, goals, and ideal results. With this information, Dr. Doumit and his team will be able to plan a procedure that will help you achieve your desired labia. At this appointment, your medical history and sexual health will also be reviewed. We want to ensure a safe procedure, so we will screen for any medications, supplements, past procedures, or preexisting conditions that could cause complications and alter our planning accordingly.

Preparation

You will receive specific preparation instructions from Dr. Doumit after your consultation. These may vary from patient to patient, but all should plan to:

  • Cease using any blood-thinning medications or supplements
  • Quit smoking or any nicotine consumption (if applicable)
  • Fill prescriptions given to you by Dr. Doumit
  • Create a comfortable environment to recover in
  • Arrange transportation to and from their procedure

Procedure

Labiaplasty can help a patient’s ideal genital appearance by cutting away excess tissue on the labia minora. Depending on the scale of the procedure, patients are either placed under general anesthesia or given a strong local anesthetic. Results are achieved using one of two methods:

The Trim Technique

The trim technique of labiaplasty is a less complex method for this procedure. With this technique, Dr. Doumit trims away excess labia minora tissue parallel to the vaginal opening. (1) While fast and efficient, this method also creates more scarring than other techniques due to the long, narrow incisions it requires. This is the preferred method for some patients and can have excellent results.

The Wedge Technique

The wedge technique involves the removal of a triangular wedge of tissue from the labia. Dr. Doumit will pull the labia to the side and mark the wedges for removal. He will carefully trim along these lines, and suture the tissue. This technique hides most of the scarring and creates smaller, symmetrical labia and an overall improved appearance. (1)

Depending on a patient’s goals and the procedure’s needs, Dr. Doumit may incorporate both of these methods to match the desired results. Techniques like fat transferring and liposuction may also be incorporated to reduce or increase the size of the labia majora and mons pubis to create a smoother, more proportional appearance.

Recovery

Labiaplasty Dr. Gaby Doumit

You can expect some swelling, soreness, and potentially some bruising in the treatment area for a few weeks after your procedure. It is common for patients to see swelling for a month or two after their procedure. You can reduce any pain or discomfort with prescribed or over-the-counter pain medications. Most patients can gently return to work and day-to-day activities after about a week, but sex, strenuous activities, running, and some kinds of exercise should be avoided for at least four weeks.

Results

You will immediately notice the results of your labiaplasty after your procedure, but final results will become more evident when swelling is more fully reduced. Your labia will be shorter and more symmetrically shaped; you can enjoy a genital appearance that you can feel more confident with.

Labiaplasty has a high satisfaction rate, with 90% of patients being happy with their results. (1) The results of your labiaplasty will last for a long time, but they may be altered with future weight gain, significant hormonal changes, childbirth, the natural aging process, and more.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Labiaplasty is just one way you can enhance your appearance and feel like your most attractive self. Dr. Doumit has many procedures available to help you achieve your goals.

Breast

Breast augmentation and breast lift procedures are commonly performed by Dr. Doumit. With these procedures, you can enhance your breasts so that they appear perkier, more voluminous, and more youthful–depending on the procedure. If your breasts have sagged as a result of aging or you are dissatisfied with their size, we recommend these procedures. We can help you achieve your goals with the breast procedure that is right for you.

Body

Many women will receive a labiaplasty after they give birth as a way to rejuvenate their intimate areas after pregnancy. It is very common for women to also receive liposuction and tummy tucks after pregnancy to help sculpt their bodies after they lose their pregnancy weight. Dr. Doumit’s patients also incorporate buttock augmentation procedures to sculpt their buttocks for a more attractive appearance.

Fat Transfer to Labia

Some patients may not require a labiaplasty to see the results they want. If a patient’s labia do not require removal or trimming, then they may be able to achieve a fuller, more symmetrical, and harmonious appearance by transferring fat to their labia majora. Fat transfer procedures use a patient’s own fat, or autologous fat, as the filler medium. Once harvested with liposuction, Dr. Doumit will carefully reinject this fat into the labia to give it a fuller appearance. These procedures have the benefit of avoiding implants and synthetic fillers. Autologous fat is considered by many doctors to be the ideal filler material because it is biocompatible, readily available, and contributes to an easier recovery.

Cost of Labiaplasty in Montréal

The total cost of your labiaplasty treatment will depend on your goals, the scale of the procedure, and other factors. If you incorporate any other procedures into your treatment, this will also affect the price. The cost of labiaplasty under local anesthesia starts at 4750 + tax.

The best way to receive an accurate cost estimate is to meet with Dr. Doumit to discuss your goals. Once gathered, you can get an idea of the cost of your procedure.
